SUV Driver Killed After Tractor-Trailer Crosses I-279 Median in Ross Township

ROSS TOWNSHIP, Pa. – A deadly multi-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer and an SUV prompted a major emergency response and temporarily shut down part of Interstate 279 northbound in Ross Township, Allegheny County, on Tuesday.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, the crash occurred after a tractor-trailer traveling southbound reportedly lost control and crossed the highway median. The truck then entered the northbound lanes, where it collided with an SUV traveling in the opposite direction.

The impact proved fatal for the SUV driver, who died at the scene. Authorities had not publicly released the victim’s identity at the time of initial reports, pending notification of family members and the completion of the appropriate investigative procedures.
